NEW website // NEW design // MORE content!
Welcome to our very own and NEW edition of LE YOGA JOURNAL PARIS digital – a visual and creative universe where expression and style meet deep knowledge about yoga and its tradition…
Le Yoga Journal Paris (est. 2012 by Kia & Magnus Naddermier) is the result of an on-going process which began almost 20 years ago in Stockholm. This was the beginning of our creative work – Magnus as an art director and Kia as a photographer – and it was also the time when we first met both Ashtanga yoga and each other… This Journal is a window into what is happening in our minds, eyes and conversations right here and right now. Some discussions have been around for many years, other stories just happened to catch our eye last week. We want take the discussion beyond hand-stands in bikini and smoothie recipies to looking at how yoga influences life at large, art, culture and society. We see Le Yoga Journal Paris as a visual and creative universe where expression and style meet deep knowledge about yoga and its tradition. To produce this spectacular content we collaborate with a “core-network” of journalists, teachers, artists, writers and photographers who we admire deeply and love working with..” Kia & Magnus Naddermier

NADI SHODANA – The Pranayama & The Intermediate Series

NADI SHODANA – The Pranayama & The Intermediate Series

Principles, Practice, Philosophy and Adjustments

Nadi Shodana Intermediate Series – principles, practice and adjustments

Saturday & Sunday 9.00-11.30

The Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga is known to balance the energy, gradually giving access to the central channel, Sushumna Nadi. It combines deep back-bending, twisting, hip-opening and balancing postures and is designed to awaken and strengthen our entire body and nervous system. We approach these challenging postures with intelligence, playfulness and awareness of both physical and energetic alignment principles. Over the weekend Kia will guide you on a journey beyond the external form of the postures towards internal understanding and energetic balance – enabling you to inform and inspire your practice regardless of your current level.

Please note: You do NOT need to be an Intermediate Series practitioner to attend. The workshop is open for all interested practitioners, except complete beginners to Ashtanga Yoga.

Nadi Shodana Pranayama – principles, practice and philosophy

Saturday & Sunday 15.00-16.30

Nadi Shodana means Purification of the Nadis and is considered to be a Kriya, a purification technique that balances and prepares the physical- and energetic pathways for yogic practices. It is a complete practice in its own right that lies at the very heart of Hatha Yoga. Kia will introduce us to some of the classical Kriyas and preparatory practices, creating an understanding for the technique and philosophy behind Nadi Shodana and the significance of breath in yogic practices.

ASHTANGA YOGA & PRANAYAMA SADHANA IN DEPTH in the mountains of Sierra Nevada Spain, July 23-30th 2015

We are very happy to announce that Kia will give a second session of her Deepening Your Practice course in Spain! The first session is fully booked (contact Kia for details about waiting list) and the second session is already starting to fill up..! Let us know if you would like to join us in our gorgeous Spanish Shala this summer, early booking is recommended! x

For the third year in a row, we gather in the magnificent mountains of the Sierra Nevada to deepen our practice and understanding of yoga as a whole – allowing its subtleties to unfold and blossom.

We open our mornings with Ashtanga Yoga – a combination of Mysore Style classes, where you receive individual guidance and adjustments from Kia, and some led classes focused on specific aspects of Ashtanga Yoga, its principles & adjustments. Afternoon sessions are dedicated to the philosophy and practice of Pranayama, the ancient yogic breathing techniques. Kia will offer her experience and guidance as we allow space for a daily practice of  Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama and Kriyas (yogic purification techniques) as well as Sitting and Mantra-recitation.

Integrating all aspects will take your practice to the next level of awareness, allowing its subtleties to unfold and blossom.

Alongside the yoga practice there will be other optional activities including day trips to Granada and Almeria beach, vegetarian cookery with local chefs, hiking and, of course, hanging by the pool… It will also be possible to book one-on-one healing sessions with Myriam Quinones Pescador.

Run by the lovely Brittish couple David & Emma Illsey, Las Chimeneas is a truly authentic and unique pearl, located in one of the most beautiful and energetically powerful spots in all of Europe. The accommodation is lovely, with plenty of antiques, books, nooks and crannies. Many rooms have fabulous views across the hills to the distant sea. The food is delicious – organic, vegetarian, locally grown. Yoga classes are held in the outdoor shala which nestles in olive groves, overlooking the mountains.  This is a magical place to retreat, re-charge and give yourself space to deepen your practice.

The course is open to all levels of practitioners familiar with Mysore Style self-practice.

Please contact for more details. Download pdf flyer here. Click here to see lovely photos from last year!

On New Moon Diane Duhamel will mindfully guide you through a relaxing sequence of postures, developed particularly for times like new moon days, when the energy is lower and a more quiet approach is recommended. Over time you will learn this sequence by heart so you can use it whenever you need to restore and replenish. This nourishing practice balances the nervous system and teaches us how to listen internally and adapt the practice to support our physical needs and mind state. This 90-min class open to all levels and included in your regular class card. Please arrive a few minutes before to set up as we will begin punctually. More about Moon days here

Immensely proud and excited to share the 4th edition of LE YOGA SHOP JOURNAL with you, fresh from the printer’s!

Purity, the theme of this issue of Le Journal is often associated with stern discipline, chastity innocence – on the other hand with the existence of impurity, shame and guilt. We need to purify, detox and clean up our act! Yoga mainly discusses purity as being free from scattered thought patterns -creating clarity and steadiness of mind. Living in this digital era with everyone´s and anyone´s latest happenings and doings at our fingertips at all hours, makes it increasingly challenging to keep steadiness of mind…
These thoughts are reflected in the content featuring a conversation with Danny Paradise about purity, independence and personal responsibility. Greg Nardi reflects on the role of religion in the yoga tradition. Belen Vazquez Amaro and Albin Holmqvist have interpreted the elements of the ancient science of Auyrveda in a unique and visual story. Tina Magnergård Bjers is advocating the need for a Digital Detox in her family…
100% of sales is donated to Operation Shant -read about our cause here!
Le Yoga Shop Journal is available at the Shala, or you can order your own copy here!
