Mysore Style is considered the ideal and safest way for a beginner to learn Ashtanga Yoga, since the practice is developed according to the constitution, readiness and ability of each individual.
Our Introduction to Mysore classes are suitable for beginners as well as students who have taken guided Ashtanga classes, or other types of Yoga class before, but who now wish to develop a self-practice. You will start to memorize the first part of the Ashtanga sequence, synchronizing breath and movement, allowing you to take the first steps towards cultivating your own practice. The teacher will guide you where necessary – sometimes verbally and sometimes by giving physical adjustments – and over time will encourage you to become increasingly independent in your practice.
Our Introduction to Mysore classes run along-side the regular Mysore class, meaning we have all levels of practitioners practising together in the room – some with a lot of experience, such as Yoga teachers, next to others who are just beginning. Mysore Style is considered the ideal and safest way for a beginner to learn Ashtanga Yoga, since the practice is developed according to the constitution, readiness and ability of each individual. Over time our Introduction students move seamlessly into regular Mysore practice.
