SIERRA NEVADA, Spain (session 1) – limited space left

ASHTANGA YOGA & PRANAYAMA SADHANA IN DEPTH

12 DAY RETREAT IN SIERRA NEVADA WITH KIA NADDERMIER

SESSION 1: JULY 17-29TH (limited space left)

Join us for our most popular retreats in the magnificent mountains of the Sierra Nevada to deepen your practice and understanding of yoga as a whole – allowing its subtleties to unfold and blossom.

Kia weaves an embodied approach to Ashtanga Yoga with classical Pranayama (Kaivalyadham-lineage), Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation and Compassion Practices.  Being a devoted practitioner in Yogic and Buddhist traditions she draws heavily from both streams of wisdom. During the retreat we immerse into these somatic teachings as vehicles of insight, inviting us to awaken our heart through the wisdom of our body.

Whether exploring Asana, Pranayama or the Buddha Dharma, we work from a non-dogmatic, inclusive and creative place, open for personal inquiry. Refining our somatic awareness will be the ground for our inquiry into each of these subtle frequencies of practice. It is an approach that yields exceptional rewards as it moves the practitioner towards self-reliance, self-compassion and self-realisation.

Again and again we return to the wisdom of our body, the pathways of our breath and the generosity of our heart to grow our practice from a place of deep listening, curiosity and kindness. This entrustment to the home ground of our embodiment creates a natural sense of belonging and compassion that reaches far beyond our yoga mat.

The retreat is open for all levels.

I believe this process of embodiment to be a portal to the deepest source of our being – which always is, and always has been entirely whole and complete

Alongside the yoga practice there will be optional activities including a day trip to Granada or the beach, vegetarian cookery with our local chefs, hiking in the mountains and, of course, hanging by the pool…

Run by the British couple David & Emma Illsey, Las Chimeneas is a truly authentic and unique pearl, located in one of the most beautiful and energetically powerful spots in all of Europe. The accommodation is lovely, with plenty of antiques, books, nooks and crannies. Many rooms have fabulous views across the hills to the distant sea. The food is delicious - organic, vegetarian, locally grown. Yoga classes are held in the outdoor shala which nestles in olive groves, overlooking the mountains.  This is a magical place to retreat, re-charge and give yourself space to deepen your practice.

Mornings open with Mindfulness Meditation, cultivating deep awareness aligning body, breath, heart and mind. A couple of guided Master Classes will be offered at the beginning of the retreat to expand our understanding of embodied anatomy, energetic movements, actions and principles of Asana. These comprehensive practice sessions will offer new insights to be explored in the Mysore classes that follow. This will allow for your personal practice process to evolve, while receiving individual support from Kia to further deepen your experience. With a sincere dedication to the growth and development of each of her students, Kia offers a warm, inclusive and inspiring space open for personal inquiry.

Afternoons are dedicated to the philosophy and practice of traditional Pranayamas in the lineage of Kaivalyadham as well as reflections around the Buddha Dharma, Meditation, Satsang and exploring essential Principles of Yoga Asana.  Whether studying breath, meditation or asana, we enter these mindfully crafted afternoon sessions with an explorative mindset, looking at common principles and patterns to help cultivate a fully embodied experience rooted in Yogic and Buddhist teachings.

New students will be mindfully introduced to classical Pranayama & Kriyas, whilst those with more experience will refine and deepen their practice and understanding. Those with an established practice within Kavailiadham lineage may be offered pulse-reading and individual progressions. All participants will leave with a self-practice to continue after the retreat.

The course is open to all levels of practitioners familiar with Ashtanga Yoga.

Prices run from 1510€ for all 12 days depending on room, including airport transfer from Malaga to our mountain village, accommodation, all meals, local activities and full yoga training.
