This new extended 4-module intensive integrates the philosophy, practice & adjustments of Ashtanga Yoga & Pranayama with Applied Anatomy & Bio-mechanics, to cultivate a transformational yet sustainable practice in accordance with yogic principles.
It is designed for practitioners and teachers looking to deepen their understanding of yoga as a whole, involving all aspects – body, breath and mind. We refine our internal and physical awareness, observation skills, alignment in Asana, subtleties of breath, understanding of the philosophy of yoga, and the art of adjusting. We pay careful attention to each individual, looking at common body patterns, helping to build an intelligent, mindful practice and develop relevant teaching tools.
Module One and Two build the foundation for the entire practice and philosophy of Ashtanga, Pranayama, Kriyas, Anatomy, Biomechanics, Postural Analysis and Physiology of Breathing. Space is offered for Mysore practice where each individual is met and personal practice explored and deepened. The course offers insights into how to use and adapt hands-on adjustments to different individuals, and put anatomical knowledge into practice. A solid foundation of traditional Pranayamas and Kriyas in practice & philosophy is laid to be continued and refined as the course progresses.
Module Three and Four delve deeper into the Ashtanga sequences, philosophy and adjustments, as we look at how the principles learned apply to the Intermediate Series. This transformational sequence is closely linked to the Nervous System, as are the practices of Pranayamas and Kriyas. Hence Anatomy sessions are dedicated to uncover how our practice affects our Nervous System and all other processes in body and mind. Our understanding of Pranayamas, Kriyas and Bandha are refined, as we carefully introduce yet finer layers to their practice & philosophy.
To truly develop your individual practice and understanding, specific practices and assignments will be given between modules to support your progression.
Essentially the In-Depth Development training provides ongoing support & inspiration for your personal and / or professional development – it is not a linear and finite training. The material covered is vast and is constantly being updated so we consider it enormously beneficial to attend the IDT several times. The IDT grows a rich, diverse and highly informed community of dedicated practitioners to continuously share with and draw from.
