The curriculum weaves together:
An embodied, non-dogmatic approach to Ashtanga Yoga & Mysore Practice
The Art of Hands-on Adjustments & Asana Inquiry
Teaching Principles, Awareness & Observation Skills
Postural Analysis, Anatomy, Physiology & Biomechanics (with Paula Rios Fernandez)
Pranayama, Kriyas & Bandhas in the lineage of Kaivalyadham
Traditional Buddhist Meditation
Dharma Teachings, Yoga Philosophy – and much more.
This training is designed for practitioners and teachers eager to delve into the deeper unfoldings of yoga – using their practice as a gateway to physical and subtle realms of experience, energetic movement, and the quiet blossoming of inner awareness. It embraces yoga as an integrated path – one that reflects the interdependence of our inner and outer worlds.
Whether exploring Asana, Pranayama, Buddhist Meditation or studying traditional texts, we work from a non-dogmatic, inclusive and creative place, open for personal inquiry. Again and again we return to the wisdom of our body, the pathways of our breath and the generosity of our heart. From this place of embodied experience we are able to grow and share our practice with clarity, insight and compassion.
The IDT usually fills up before we go public, so please click below to be notified as soon as we open for pre-applicaiton!
“Kia places tremendous care into every single detail of practice and radiates so much warmth towards her students. By the end of the IDT, my notebook, body, and heart are full of precious teaching seeds — material to nurture for a long time ahead.”
Kia’s devotion to both Yogic and Buddhist traditions informs the heart of this training. We immerse into these somatic practices and teachings to cultivate an understanding of yoga as a portal to wholeness, wisdom and compassion.
Paula’s vivid teachings further expands this process, grounding us firmly in the living intelligence of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and postural awareness.
This multifaceted journey empowers each practitioner to develop transformative skills and embodied resources to help grow their practice and teaching from a place of deep authenticity, inner confidence and clear understanding. It is an approach that yields exceptional rewards as it moves each practitioner towards self-reliance, self-compassion and self-realisation.
The IDT provides ongoing support and inspiration for your personal and professional development. Its content is evolved and renewed with each cycle, making it deeply enriching also for those who have attended past trainings. This method of learning mirrors the practice itself – a circular process of refinement, rather than a linear or finite training.
The training nurtures an international, vibrant and diverse community of practitioners who share insights and grow together. While many participants are teachers, we intentionally cultivate a balanced group with varied backgrounds and interests. We warmly welcome dedicated practitioners from all walks of life.
