Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama, Mindfulness Sadhana
AWAKENING BODY, BREATH & HEARTMIND
with Kia Naddermier
24 February to 2 March 2024
Kia integrates the philosophy & practice of an embodied approach to Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style with classical Pranayama, Kriyas and Mindfulness Meditation. Being a devoted practitioner in both Yogic and Buddhist traditions she draws heavily from both streams of wisdom. During the retreat we steep into these somatic practices and teachings to cultivate an understanding of yoga as a whole. We journey deep within the wilderness of our own embodiment to grow a practice intimately rooted in our lived experience. This entrustment to the home ground of our body and breath creates a deep sense of belonging and compassion that reaches far beyond our yoga mat.
Join Kia for a full week of practice, offering space for abundant individual guidance and support to deepen your personal Sadhana. With a sincere dedication to the development of each of her students, she offers a non-dogmatic, inclusive and creative space supportive of personal exploration and inquiry.
Kia will share insights and guidance as we allow space for daily Mysore practice, Pranayama, Kriyas, Mindfulness Mediation and Philosophy. This multifaceted approach to practice yields exceptional rewards as it moves us towards unveiling the innate wisdom of our embodiment, allowing its subtleties to fully come alive.
The retreat is open for all levels, but you need to have an established Mysore Style - self practice.
Retreat schedule
Each week consists of 6 morning classes and 4 afternoon workshops.
Morning Practice: We open our mornings with Mindfulness Meditation, cultivating deep awareness as we align body, breath, heart and mind. Kia may guide through our first postures setting a common intention before continuing with our personal Mysore practice where we receive individual guidance and adjustments. With a sincere dedication to the growth and development of each of her students, Kia offers an inclusive, safe and inspiring space supportive of personal exploration and inquiry.
A couple of led classes may also be offered to refine our awareness of energetic movements, internal and physical actions and principles of practice.
Afternoon Sessions: Afternoons will be dedicated to the philosophy and practice of traditional Pranayamas in the lineage of Kaivalyadham as well as Meditation, Satsang and exploring energetic principles of Yoga Asana.
These subtler practices take us beyond the physical aspects of yoga to the next level of awareness. We deepen our appreciation of the many layers of the breath and its significance in yogic practices and philosophy.
New students will be mindfully introduced to classical Pranayama & Kriyas, whilst those with more experience will refine and deepen their practice and understanding.
