Ashtanga Yoga | Pranayama | Mindfulness Sadhana
IMMERSIVE 2-WEEK RETREAT
WITH KIA NADDERMIER
December 7th-21st 2024
Kia integrates an embodied approach to Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Style with the philosophy & practice of classical Pranayama, Kriyas and Mindfulness Meditation. Being a devoted practitioner in both Yogic and Buddhist traditions she draws heavily from both streams of wisdom.
During the retreat we steep into these somatic practices and teachings to cultivate an understanding of yoga as a whole. How it relates not only to our physical embodiment, but also to our inner landscape, energetic currents and the world we inhabit. We embrace the original definition of yoga as a practice that cannot be separated from all that transpires around and within us: the wholeness to which we belong.
This is a rare opportunity to join Kia for two full weeks, offering space for abundant individual guidance and support to deepen your personal practice.

To support those in need we are grateful to be able to offer a limited number of scholarships this year: Residential Scholarship (yoga, room and food) and Non-Residential (yoga and food). Everyone is welcome to apply but we particularly encourage those with low income, those part of the BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ community. NB: travel expenses to Goa are not included in the scholarship. Apply HERE!
Whether exploring Asana, Pranayama, Kriyas or Meditation, we work from a non-dogmatic, inclusive and creative place, open for personal inquiry. Again and again we return to the wisdom of our body, the pathways of our breath and the generosity of our heart to grow our practice from a place of deep listening, curiosity and kindness. This entrustment to the home ground of our body and breath creates a natural sense of belonging and compassion that reaches far beyond our yoga mat.
This retreat is open for all levels of practitioners familiar with Ashtanga Yoga Mysore Self-Practice.

Course content and daily schedule
Morning Practice
We open our mornings with Mindfulness Meditation, cultivating deep awareness as we align body, breath, heart and mind. Kia may guide through our first postures setting a common intention before continuing with our personal Mysore practice where we receive individual guidance and adjustments. With a sincere dedication to the growth and development of each of her students, Kia offers an inclusive, safe and inspiring space supportive of personal exploration and inquiry.
A couple of led classes may also be offered to refine our awareness of energetic movements, internal and physical actions and principles of practice.
Afternoon Sessions
Afternoons will be dedicated to the philosophy and practice of traditional Pranayamas in the lineage of Kaivalyadham as well as Meditation, Satsang and exploring energetic principles of Yoga Asana.
Refining our internal awareness will be the ground for our inquiry into the inner and outer form of these transformative practices. Wether exploring Pranayama, Asana or Meditation, we make conscious steps towards refining our ability to access sensation and grow somatic literacy along with sound principles. This offers us the agency, understanding and skills to support and align our yoga practice to changing conditions, individual ability and anatomical constitution.
This is an approach to practice that yields exceptional rewards as it moves the practitioner towards self-reliance, self-compassion and self-realisation.
New students will be mindfully introduced to classical Pranayama & Kriyas, whilst those with more experience will refine and deepen their practice and understanding.
Space is also offered for Philosophy & Satsang (discussion) around both Yogic- and Buddhist teachings and how they relate to our practice and lived experience.
